| Located just off the southeast flank of Arenal Volcano, the smaller Volcan Cerro Chato is actually an older brother living in the shadow of its boisterous younger sibling. A truncated volcanic cone rising to some 1,140 meters, Cerro Chato Volcano has had no volcanic activity for the past 3,500 years, about the time when Arenal Volcano was just being born. |
