Lava Tour 1968

Hike up to the remainder of the lava flow on Arenal Volcano caused by the original 1968 eruption. The tour departs from Arenal Observatory Lodge & Spa, driving 15 minutes to the Arenal Volcano National Park entrance, and then walking approximately 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) on trails through secondary rainforest and natural open areas to the lava flow. You have the possibility of seeing monkeys, toucans, parrots, oropendulas and other wildlife. Our guide will tell you interesting facts and stories about the history and activity of Arenal Volcano. There are great panoramic views of Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal from the observation point. The tour finishes with a visit to Arenal Observatory Lodge’s Frog Pond.
