What Is Global Big Day?
Global Big Day is a worldwide day of birdwatching and bird recording organized through eBird, a global platform developed by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. On this day, people across the world head outdoors to observe birds and record the species they encounter, contributing valuable information to the study and conservation of biodiversity.
Every sighting counts. Every observation adds to our knowledge. And everyone can be part of this global citizen science effort.
A Remarkable Setting for Birdwatching
Located at the foot of Arenal Volcano and surrounded by more than 350 hectares of protected natural habitat, Arenal Observatory Lodge & Trails is a remarkable destination for birdwatching in Costa Rica.
More than 500 bird species have been recorded on our property, including hummingbirds, toucans, tanagers, motmots, hawks, and many other species that find food, shelter, and habitat within our diverse ecosystems.
