Conditions

The last 9 km of the road to get to Arenal Observatory Lodge & Trails is a public road and it is also the same route that leads to the main entrance of the Arenal Volcano National Park. It is a journey through grasslands, rainforest and views of the impressive Arenal Volcano that allows you to see wildlife along the way… if you go slowly and pay attention.

The road is mostly gravel and dirt and how any public road in Costa Rica is maintained by the government. Due to frequent use and typical tropical rains in Costa Rica, driving on this road can sometimes be slower than normal due to road deterioration – one more reason to slow down and enjoy the views! The road is periodically repaired, in which case the journey is more comfortable.

When the public road ends at the property’s front gate, you drive on excellently maintained cement and asphalt roads within the Arenal Observatory Lodge & Trails property.

For more information about road conditions, please contact Arenal Observatory Lodge & Trails at (+506-2479 1074) here, you can find up-to-the-minute information on road conditions.
