At Arenal Observatory Lodge & Trails, we care about the physical and mental well-being of our collaborators. For this reason, and in celebration of Occupational Health Week from April 24th to 28th, we conducted various activities involving our staff to raise awareness about the importance of occupational safety and health.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Occupational Health is a multidisciplinary science aimed at promoting and protecting the health of workers through the prevention and control of work-related diseases and accidents, as well as the elimination of factors and conditions that jeopardize their health and safety.

For Arenal Observatory Lodge & Trails, Occupational Health is of great importance as it encompasses various areas such as occupational safety, occupational hygiene, ergonomics, occupational psychology, and occupational medicine, which can directly impact the work environment of our collaborators.

Our objective at Arenal Observatory Lodge & Trails is to help our collaborators achieve a balance between work and family life. To achieve this, it’s important that they feel secure and equipped with the necessary tools to carry out their tasks. That’s why we organize activities to make a positive impact on our collaborators. Among the activities we carry out are “active breaks”: These are short 1 to 5-minute breaks that allow employees to change positions and stretch. Some of the benefits of active breaks include improving posture and joint mobility, reducing stress, and enhancing concentration and creativity.

We encourage our staff to consume fruits and maintain healthy lifestyles. Balanced nutrition and physical activity contribute to improving overall health, providing greater energy, and a sense of well-being.

We conducted a talk on the importance of mental health and emotional management. While physical health is important, it goes hand in hand with good mental health. This enables individuals to cope with stress and challenges that may arise in everyday life. Proper mental health education empowers individuals to develop skills for managing and effectively controlling their emotions.
