Frog Pond

Especially in rainy season (May to November), the sound of frogs in the rainforest is common nighttime music. To encourage the natural presence of rainforest frogs at Arenal Observatory Lodge & Spa, and to make it easy for our guests to see them, we have built a natural Frog Pond in one of our streams near the hotel. Easy to get to on our 800-meter (0.5 mile) paved universal access trail, we recommend visiting the Frog Pond after 6:00 p.m. Look around the pond, on the ground in leaf litter, and under large plant leaves for frogs like the Red-eyed tree frog, Brilliant forest frog, Masked tree frog and the Central American bullfrog. We recommend wearing closed-toe walking shoes and bringing a flashlight.
